Abstract Recently declassified archival materials reveal that the United Kingdom conducted a sustained program of so-called black propaganda at height Cold War. This article examines roughly 350 operations in which British government spread through forgeries and front groups. Placing campaign its broader global history, demonstrates mainly targeted Soviet activity Africa Asia as part postcolonial battle for influence.
